Psychic Mediums

Psychic mediums communicate with the dead. They believe that they have the ability to perceive a plane of existance that exists after death.

Many people throughout the world believe that there is more to life than the one we believe to be true. They believe that after death our essentail beingness or our "soul" carries on to another place. The physical body dies, but it is merely a shell that is discarded upon death thereby freeing our soul to carry on. It is one of life's greatest mysteries. For psychic mediums, there is no mystery. The people we loved in life carry on another existance which we cannot see or hear. Mediums however can see or hear or even feel this existance, and they are contacted by departed souls with specific messages to be delivered to their loved ones left behind here on earth. This ability can bring incredible comfort to those people who are experienceing tremendous grief over the loss of a loved one. Mediums can transmit messages of comfort back and forth across this space. Some mediums can perceive the presence of animals that have crossed over.

Most psychic mediums discover that they possess this ability at a young age or adfter a particularly traumatic life event. Because it is never easy to admit the voices they hear or the images they see in their minds, they keep their gift hidden for fear of being considered "crazy".

Many psychic authorities believe that psychics perceive vibrations of energy that are transmitted across the time and space of the world, and mediums do the same. The one critical difference would be that mediums perceive a different frequency that other psychics, allowing them to discern energy of a different frequency - the energy that comes from the world of the dead.

Mediums often use psychometry to help them contact a particular dead person. Holding an object belonging to that person in their hand can help facilitate communication with the owner.

A great many books have been written about psychic mediums and there are famous mediums who have helped to create a new acceptance for this ability. John Edward is an example of a contemporary medium. Most mediums no longer fit the stereotype of the scarved woman, chanting and calling out to the dead. Many people associate ouija boards with communication with the dead. Mediums possess their ability to communicate on an internal level, without the use of any particular tool.
